Cold Summer Day (Petrarchan sonnet)

By Joshua A. Apolonio

I’m so lonely and I need a backup
Alone like in the middle of desert
Middle of nowhere, smile without effort
Sun’s blazing heat kills, I need a teacup.
I’m no longer famous, yes, not a pop.
Isolated, going to a sea port
Thinking that I have been really abort
The summer’s cold but without a raindrop.

A kingdom of isolation, I’m in;
And it seems like the king is only me.
I wonder if this sadness will negate.
A long journey this I know I have been
And still wishing that soon I’ll be happy;
I’m still hoping, to me, no one will hate.
